There is something special about the old paper guest book. The worn cover on the windowsill, the handwriting of people who were there before you, a pressed flower between the pages. But it is also fragile: it can be lost in a move, ruined by damp, or simply run out of space. And the writing is not always easy to read decades later.

Digital Hyttebok was made to preserve exactly these memories — safely, searchably, and with room for every photo. But we have always believed the digital version should not replace the feeling of a physical book. It should give you both. That is why we have now made printing noticeably better.

What's new

Previously, printing would start and you had to wait for the entire PDF to finish before you saw the result. Now you have two things that put you in control:

Preview before you print. You see the whole guest book exactly as it will look — page by page — before you download or print. Not quite right? Just adjust, and see the change instantly.

Feature your most important photos. In some stays there is one photo that means more than the rest — a grandchild's first mountain hike, the cabin finished after renovation, the big catch. Now you can bring those photos forward so they appear large in the print, while the rest settle neatly around them.

You choose the period yourself — a single summer, a whole year, or everything from the beginning — and get a finished, tidy PDF you can print or take to a print shop.

How to make your own paper guest book

  1. Go to print in the app and choose the period you want — for example "Summer 2026" or all of last year.
  2. Check the preview. Flip through the pages just as you would in a finished book.
  3. Feature your favourite photos. Tap a photo to make it large. Changed your mind? Just tap it once more.
  4. Download the PDF — and print it at home, or send it to a print shop if you want it bound.

The result is a physical guest book you can place on the shelf at the cabin, alongside the digital one that is always with you on your phone.

The best of both worlds

The point was never to choose between paper and digital. The digital guest book gives you security, search and endless space. The paper version gives you something to leaf through by the fireplace, something to show off, something to hold. With good printing, you don't have to choose — you get both.
